Dégustations
Quintaine Thévenet - " Cuvée
Spéciale Levroutée ", Domaine
de la Bongran, 1983, 16/20.
- A beautiful yellow colour of bright lemony-gold. Intense,
prominent tints and excellent freshness. An extremely
concentrated nose that is complex, elegant and racy. Rich
yet balanced floral notes without being offensive or over
done.
Quintaine Thévenet - " Cuvée
Botrytis ", Domaine de la Bongran, 1989, 16/20.
- An intense gold, almost amber. Very rich nose, with
distinct botrytis aromas, scents of candied kumquats with
a touch of lemon and spices. Very extraordinary. Lots
of character in the mouth with a very concentrated mouthfeel.
It would be perfect with just a little bit more finesse
and freshness. Prominent aromas of over ripeness (exotic
candied fruit). (Tasted by J. Philippe Chapelon, in
the company of a jury of fifteen professionals and amateurs.
)
Quintaine Thévenet - Domaine de la Bongran,
1989, 15,89/20
- A bright, clear golden-yellow colour. An intense,
powerful, ripe nose with notes of mint, iodine and honey.
Full, round, rich, concentrated and soft in the mouth,
with some residual sugar. Great ageing potential.
Quintaine Thévenet - Domaine de la Bongran,
1988, 16,24/20
- A very pretty, pale golden-yellow colour. Ripe, concentrated
nose of peach, honey, dried fruit, grilled almonds and
hazelnuts, smoke and hot butter. Powerful attack, round
and fresh. Hugh structure and balance. Notes of citric
fruit and dried fruit. Very fat and still young.
Quintaine Thévenet - Domaine de la Bongran,
1979, 17,35/20
- Clear, golden-green yellow colour. Liquid honey, dried
fruit, beeswax, licorice and toast on the nose. Powerful,
round attack, mouth-coating richness and evolved notes
of dried fruit, honey, vanilla, and grilled almonds. A
ripe, rich wine. Henri Jayer's comment: "What can be said?
Nothing. Quite simply, we can just admire it.
Quintaine Thévenet - Domaine de la Bongran,
1962, 16,88/20
- Golden-yellow colour, with beautiful clarity. Grilled
almond, mineral, iodine, licorice, anise and peanut butter
on the nose. Balanced sweetness and acidity, with beautifully
evolved notes of dried fruit. A supple, charming and flattering
wine.
Quintaine Thévenet - Domaine de la Bongran,
1959, 15,75/20
- Golden-amber colour. Very rich nose reminiscent of a
vin doux naturel : honey, dried fruit, vanilla, licorice
and notes of cognac and armagnac. Full and powerful on
the palate with dominant notes of dried fruit and walnuts.
A rich, balanced wine lacking a bit of freshness, with
very sherry-like qualities.
